UKLPG Vehicle Register

 ABOUT THE UKLPG VEHICLE REGISTER

The only way to ensure a conversion is certified (through installation or inspection) by a UKLPG Approvutogas Installer is to check on the Register - with the removal of certificates, this is a simple and secure method of confirming an authentic conversion.

This is a major initiative by the LPG industry in the UK - introduced in July 2010 - to bring together requests from the insurance companies, organisations such as taxi licensing offices, emergency services  and consumers for a simple, secure and accessible way to establish if a vehicle has been converted safely.

Key benefits of the new UKLPG Vehicle Register

Provides free access for insurance companies, brokers, taxi licensing officers and consumers to confirm a vehicle has been converted, or checked and meets industry standards, by a UKLPG Approved Autogas Installer to run on LPG autogas.

LPG fuelled vehicles inspected by UKLPG Approved Installers and found satisfactory can be added to the UKLPG Vehicle Register - There is now no reason not to have a vehicle on the Register - even if the vehicle was not orginally converted by one of our Approved Autogas Installers the vehicle can still be added - find your nearest UKLPG Approved Installer and get your converted vehicle checked out today - click here.

OEM vehicles with LPG are not conversions but can also be registered free of charge by sending in a copy of page 2 of the V5 to UKLPG at the post or email address below

Only UKLPG Approved Autogas Installers are able to place vehicles on the Register.

UKLPG Vehicle Register operates with real time updates for instant display of vehicles as they are registered.

Certificates have now been superseded by the UKLPG Vehicle Register, and are no longer valid – the only way to ensure certified conversion is by reference to the UKLPG Vehicle Register as above which includes vehicles for which LPGA LPG Conversion Certificates have been issued in the past.

Approved Autogas Installers will no longer be issuing LPG Conversion Certificates. Consumers will be given a Registration Receipt which the DVLA will accept as proof of conversion (click here  for sample wording produced on the headed notepaper of the installer) .

The insurance industry is supporting this initiative and will verify the conversion through the UKLPG Register. For more details please visit our Insurance page.

IF YOUR REGISTRATION NUMBER IS NOT ON THE UKLPG VEHICLE REGISTER:

If you have an LPGA Conversion Certificate - get on the Register...

Every effort has been made to record existing certified installations from current approved installers on the Register but any consumer in possession of a authentic LPGA LPG Conversion Certificate (click here to see an example) for which the vehicle is not on the Register can send the original by post (recorded delivery) to UKLPG (address below) to obtain free registration

If you do not have an LPGA Conversion Certificate

If your vehicle was converted by the vehicle manufacturer and this is shown in the model details (eg. bifuel, dual fuel or LPG) then send in a copy of page 2 of your V5 to obtain free entry on the Register for your vehicle.

If not by the vehicle manufacturer then irrespective of who converted the vehicle, any UKLPG Approved Autogas Installer  can inspect your vehicle and if found satisfactory add it to the Register - click here to find the nearest one to you who can give you a qote for the cost.

Please note that inclusion of LPG, Gas or Bi-fuel on the V5 as the "Type of Fuel" only means that the DVLA have accepted your vehicle for the Alternative Fuel Discount and is not a certification of conversion standards. This does not make your vehicle eligible for free entry on the Register.

Changing your number plate? - no problem

If your vehicle has been placed on the Register with a previous registration number then just send a copy of page 2 of your V5C showing the new number and VIN/chassis number together with details of the registration number currently on the UKLPG Vehicle Register to obtain a free update to the Register
