UK drivers save an estimated 66m with LPG

Drivers in the UK saved an estimated 66 million on their fuel bills in 2014 by using LPG, estimates LPG supplier Autogas.

The company said 150,000 drivers in the UK are using LPG, which costs around 40% less at the pumps.

Petrolprices.com reports the average current UK price for LPG is 64.68 pence per litre compared to 110.33ppl for unleaded.

“The recent fall in the cost of petrol and diesel is welcome news to millions of motorists, but it’s important to remember that this could easily be a short-lived reduction,” said Linda Gomersall, general manager, Autogas.

“Not too long ago drivers were paying record prices for unleaded of more than £1.40 per litre and a return to similar levels is not inconceivable. With the Government’s recent 10-year commitment to the fuel differential between petrol and LPG, the only way to guarantee permanently lower priced fuel is to make the switch to LPG.”

Drivers using LPG have access to a refuelling network of more than 1,400 stations across the UK.
